The Kodner lab studies microalgae diversity and evolution in changing environments.
Help support The Living Snow Project at the WWU VikingFunder.
We study algae living in snowy alpine environments and algae living in our local marine waters of Bellingham Bay. We work in two major research areas – 1) characterizing microalgae communities in our local region using environmental genomic techniques and 2) developing bioinformatic methods optimized for analyzing environmental genomic data. Read more about our current and former research projects on the Research page. Find our citizen science program for sampling snow algae on the Climber Science/Citizen Science page. Interested MSc students are encouraged to contact Dr. Kodner about research opportunities.
